This time of the year party revellers in Delhi have plenty to look forward to. Zygo in NCR, Blue Frog in Mehrauli and Sura Vie Lounge at Janpath, Connaught Place are some of the new clubs and lounges that recently opened in the capital. Even though there are many rules and restrictions imposed on the city’s party scene by the Delhi government, look beyond the deserted roads and you’ll find a Delhi packed at chic bars, hip discos, lounges and coffee houses. We find what makes Delhi’s nightlife so alluring for entrepreneurs to invest in this sector.
Nightlife in Delhi is very happening as people from all quarters of life party here, feels Rohit Chawla, student of Hansraj College. He says, “Unlike Bengaluru which thrives on young officegoers, Delhi is a place for all age groups. There’s a place for everyone. From different genres of music to various international cuisines, you can pick your favourite. Since Delhi is a melting pot of cultures there are all kinds of people here, so it means good business for any place that opens up.”
Rajat Bansal, an entrepreneur, feels that Delhi needs more specialised nightspots. He says, “Mumbai and Bengaluru are already full of swanky clubs and lounges, and I think Delhi should also have such places so that young people can be spoilt for choice.”
Ayushi Verma, boutique owner and party hopper, says, “I think Delhi’s nightlife is pretty cool. We have lavish lounges that are open till late on weekends. The roads are also buzzing with people till midnight. However, I think the security for women is a major issue here, and if we are going out we have to have a male accompanying us.”
Delhi is a city that appreciates all forms of music and art. Says chef Sanjeev Kapoor, owner of Sura Vie Lounge, “Delhi consumers are very discerning and appreciate niche and mainstream art forms.”
