Call it karma or coincidence, but it seems like the one film that will finally change Abhishek Bachchan’s fortunes could very well be Bol Bachchan. While the film’s premise itself seems highly promising (it is a remake of the Amol Palekar laugh riot, Golmaal) and also stars Ajay Devgn, the real reason Abhishek can breathe easy about this venture is Rohit Shetty.
Industry veterans say that if Bol Bachchan does bring about a reversal of Abhi’s current bad form, it would be a case of history repeating itself. “When Rohit debuted with Zameen and roped in Abhi and Ajay for the same, Abhi’s career was reeling under several flops. Zameen did reasonably well, leading Abhi on to some great successes. So there is this superstition that Bol Bachchan will also lead Abhi on to greater things,” says a trade analyst.
Small wonder then, that Abhi is hoping that BB will turn things around for him, needing badly as he does, a hit after 2009’s Paa. With Singham and Golmaal 3 under his belt, Rohit seems the right man for the job. Says a trade guru, “Abhi’s faith in Rohit as a lucky mascot is sure to be reaffirmed.”
