Movies are the mirror of a society, and an upcoming Hindi film Yeh Khula Aasman directed by Gitanjali Sinha, is an attempt to reflect the current generation gap and plight of nuclear families in modern India. The story revolves around a young teenage boy, his father and grandfather. The role of grandfather is played by famous actor Raghubir Yadav.
“It’s a story of young boy going through a sad phase in his life due to academic failures. He comes to his grandfather for guidance, who teaches him the important lessons of life by using kite as a metaphor. Three generations are depicted in this family drama. I am playing a grandfather in the film, and I really enjoyed this role as I have never done anything like this before,” says Raghubir, who recently participated in a kite festival in Gujarat, as part of his film promotions.
The film is shot in Bhagalpur, Bihar and was shot in less than one month, informs the actor. He says, “Our director was young and she hails from Bhagalpur. She has written a very sensible movie keeping in mind her relationship with her grandparents. The team was very young and my co-actor Yashpal Sharam worked very sincerely for this project.”
Talking about his upcoming projects, the actor reveals that he is working on two movies currently – Bura Aadmi and Married to America. He informs, “The movie Married to America is based on corruption, which is about a woman who comes from America to find out about her husband. I play the role of a taxi driver who takes her around the city. Bura Aadmi, on the other hand, is a political drama.”
Moving from movies to theatre, the actor recalls his first stint with acting in the capital, which began with NSD.
He says, “I started my career with theatre and I joined NSD in 1974. I was associated with NSD for 13 years and I used to love the ambience and vibe at Mandi House. It was the cultural hub back then, but now everything has changed with time. I wish to do more theatre but I hardly get time.”
