A strong 6.3-magnitude earthquake struck deep beneath the Pacific off Fiji on Tuesday, US geologists said, but no tsunami warning was issued and there were no reports of damage from the remote tremor.
The offshore quake hit at 0622 IST, with an epicentre some 759 kilometres south of the Fijian capital Suva and 582 kilometres deep, the United States Geological Survey said.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center did not issue a tsunami alert for the area, part of the Pacific's 'Ring of Fire', a highly active tectonic zone that frequently experiences earthquakes.
