Biotechnology Secretary M K Bhan on Monday said government needs to evolve audit systems and processes that suit public-private partnerships to avoid Antrix-Devas deal type controversies.
"The government needs to help us in evolving processes and audit systems that suit public-private partnerships to avoid Antrix-Devas type of controversies," he told reporters on the sidelines of India Bio Conference here, when asked for his reaction to the Pratyush Sinha Committee report.
The report had indicted former ISRO chief G Madhavan Nair and three other space scientists for acts of commission in the Antrix-Devas deal.
Bhan said scientists should learn from mistakes and correct them. "If errors are made, we have to learn from them and move forward and correct them," he said.
He said government has approved a proposal to set up "Bio Connect" in the city, which would be a centre for excellence in biotechnology focusing on connecting young scientists with the industry.
"Bio Connect will be an organisation to connect young bio scientists with the industry for improving quality of research," he said.
Bhan said government would add five more BT major biotechnology institutions in 30 universities in the country in the next five years.
