A 56-year-old man was shot at by unidentified assailants in Mitraon village of Najargarh in southwest Delhi on Thursday morning.
Police officials said the victim identified as Kishen Kumar had left his house for work when he was intercepted by unidentified assailants near his Mitraon village residence. The assailants believed to be three in number were travelling in a white Zen and shot multiple fires at Mr Kumar. They then escaped from the spot.
“One bullet hit his shoulder and another grazed his jaw. He fell down writhing in pain and started screaming for help which caught the attention of passersby who made a call to the police control room at around 11 am. A PCR van rushed him to Safdargunj hospital where his condition is stated to be critical,” a senior police official said.
“We have recorded his statement and it appears to be a case of personal enmity. But we are not ruling out anything,” R.K. Pandey, additional DCP (south west), said. The family of the victim was also questioned by the investigators but they haven’t provided any definite clue to lead the police to the assailants.
A senior police officials said the case is being investigated from all angles.

Registration of marriages to become simpler

The Delhi government is drafting a bill for a hassle-free process of registration of marriages in the city. The bill proposes the presence of either the husband or wife at the designated offices for the purpose.
In special circumstances, the couple may even authorise their parents for registration of their marriages, provided documentation of the paper work is in order.
In keeping with a Supreme Court directive, the Delhi government has drafted the bill and the procedures for registration are being simplified as per suggestion of the home ministry.
“Following a suggestion by the Union home ministry, the city government has decided to do away with the practice of requiring both husband and wife to be present at the marriage registrar’s office,” said a senior official.
The bill, which makes registration of marriage compulsory for the newly married, will be tabled in the budget session of Delhi Assembly.
