May 11: The CBI will file a chargesheet in the Ruchika Girhotra molestation and suicide case next month. The agency officials have also made it clear that the narco analysis test on the former Haryana DGP, S.P.S Rathore, who had earlier given his consent for the same, would not be conducted now.
The decision to not conduct narco test on Rathore comes in the wake of the Supreme Court recently declaring the test illegal. However, the agency officials maintained that even after his consent, conducting the test was not possible due to medical reasons. Sources revealed that Rathore had a heart problem, as well as breathing problem, and in that case he could not have been subjected to narco test.
“Earlier, in a letter written to the Haryana government, Rathore had said that he was willing to undergo a narco analysis test, despite being a heart patient. He had also attached riders to his affidavit, claiming that Ruchika Girhotra’s family must also undergo a narco test. But, now it’s not possible at all,” sources revealed.
The agency officials have also recorded statements of new witnesses in the case, including some colleagues of Ruchika, who worked with her before she committed suicide. During the investigation, the officials came to know that Ruchika was working with a private company in Chandigarh before she committed suicide. Some of her colleagues, who worked with her in the same company, were questioned earlier and now their statements have been recorded, sources said.
The chargesheet will be filed by the agency in connection with the investigation relating to the three FIRs registered against Rathore and others.
