There’s something about celebrities and their “picture perfect” physique, skin and hair that makes them flawless. Of course that something is aided by makeup, cosmetic surgery and Photoshop. But we love to dig these unrealistic beauty standards in our idols and forget that they are also human like us.
Interestingly, bombshell Kim Kardashian recently posted a series of photographs of herself crying to show people just how ‘ugly’ she can look. Back home, actor Sonam Kapoor and Hrithik Roshan also publicly admitted about their body flaws. As stars are shedding their inhibitions and getting “real”, are we ready to accept them with their bona fide act?
The fact that Sonam has a saggy bum and Hrithik had a flabby abdomen once was something hard to digest for their ardent fans.
Karan Singh, a marketing professional who adores Sonam, admits that her candid interview was a shocker. He says, “Sonam’s interview shattered the illusion that she is perfect and a diva with no flaws. Even Hrithik’s revelation about his fat stomach was inspirational. I think it really takes a lot of guts to be so honest.”
Celebrities revealing their “real” side should be careful about not disclosing too much, opines Aditi Sinha, an IT professional. She says, “They are in the glam business and they are supposed to look good all the time. If they disclose their unglam side, it can backfire.”
However, Kim Kardashian’s series of crying pictures to show her fans that she can also look ugly was a desperate attempt, feels Madhavi Kanwar, a professional. She says, “Kim’s a drama queen and everyone knows she’s a plastic doll full of surgical body parts. Her crying pictures were just another gimmick.”
