Fed up of continuous fights with his wife over trivial issues, a Mumbai resident faked his own three-year-old son’s kidnapping, keeping him in his girlfriend’s custody for 58 days.
Suspicious of the fact that there were no leads even after a lengthy probe, the police kept a watch on him, who unsuspectingly led the cops to his son. The accused, Naresh Ingle, registered a complaint with the police in December 2010 claiming that his son Kalpak had been kidnapped, and that he had received a ransom call. “When our officials decided to lay a trap by making Ingle agree to the ransom demand, he acted strangely, appearing eager to leave the location of the trap every time,” said crime branch chief Himanshu Roy.
