Perturbed over growing factional fights among the BJP-ruled states, the big brother of sangh parivar, the RSS, has decided to stage an urgent intervention.
The RSS top brass will be meeting in Nagpur next month for a “chintan (introspection)” on the issue, which it feels is coming in the way of party’s political prospects. In a stern message to the BJP top brass, the RSS has also asked the BJP to put its house in order and stem infighting.
Sources said the RSS is miffed over the fact that the BJP top brass has failed to stem infighting in Karnataka, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh, where the party is in power. It is also angry with Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi for his “arrogance” and “defiance.” Mr Modi has refused to campaign in poll bound states, including crucial Uttar Pradesh.
The week-long Akhil Bhartiya Pratinidhi Sabha of the RSS is scheduled to begin on March 12, which will be attended by the RSS top brass and pracharaks from across the country. However, a special session will be held on the ongoing crisis in the BJP. This session will be attended only by the RSS top brass. Some of the senior BJP leaders are also expected to attend this session.
It could be mentioned that in Karnataka BJP top brass is trying to pacify former Karnataka chief minister B.S. Yeddyurappa who, it was learnt, wants to be reinstated at the chief minister’s post. However, BJP chief Nitin Gadkari has rejected his demand.
In Uttarakhand, chief minister B.C. Khanduri and his predecessor Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank camps are busy blaming each other for damaging party’s electoral prospects. A section of leaders from HP unit had met BJP top brass recently to complaint against chief minister P.K. Dhumal’s style of functioning.
