Police have registered a case against two doctors here on the complaint of a woman whose uterus was removed during an operation.
The city police registered the case under sections 336 (act of endangering life of a person), 337 (causing hurt by an act endangering the life of a person) and 338 (causing grievous hurt by act endangering life of a person) of the IPC against gynaecologist Dr Mitra Saxena and Dr Deepak Yadav, police sources here said.
The case was registered on Sunday on a complaint lodged by the woman, a resident of Mohalla Shukarpura here, whose uterus had been removed by the two doctors allegedly without her knowledge in July, 2011.
On July 7, 2011, the woman's condition worsened after she delivered a baby girl in a charitable hospital, near Kanaud Gate here.
When the woman came to know of it, she submitted a complaint to the Superintendent of Police here seeking cognizance of the 'grave offence' committed by the two doctors.
The district police chief, in turn, sent the matter to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) for medical opinion in this regard.
The CMO constituted a board of three doctors who recently submitted their findings, following which the case has been registered against the duo.
SHO Dhanpat Singh, who is investigating the case, said that initially medical examination of the complainant would be held, after which proceedings in the light of the report of the medical examination launched.
