[1]Small aircraft will be banned from flying over the Chinese capital for the next two weeks when parliament and the country's top political advisory body meet.
Planes, helicopters, gliders and manned balloons will be forbidden from flying over Beijing March 2-15, the China Daily reported on Thursday.
This is when the National People's Congress and Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) will be held.
Zuo Baoshuan, an official with the Beijing municipal public security bureau, said there were 2,134 registered small aircraft in the city.
Training and sales promotions using small aircraft have been banned.
On Wednesday, police went to the country's first private aircraft club, established in 1987 in Beijing, and temporarily sealed its hangar.
Zuo asked the club to remove propellers and engines from the aircraft.
A spokesman for the club said an agreement has been signed with pilots who leave their private aircraft there, and fuel has been emptied from them.
Previously, small aircraft had been grounded during the 2008 Olympic Games.
Amateur pilot must take permission from the national air traffic management department before they fly, so that they do not affect regular commercial flights, an official said.
