A breakaway group of Gujjars has rejected peace pact signed by K.S. Bainsla with the state government at a mahapanchayat on Thursday at Sikadra under Dausa district and given one month time to the government to
meet their demand for 5 per cent quota in jobs. Chief minister Ashok Gehlot said the Opposition BJP was actively involved in creating problem while the community had welcomed the pact.
The Gujjars led by former NCP MLA Ramveer Singh Bidhuri criticised the pact at the mahapanchayat and said the community was cheated. “We will not sit idol and soon organise a state-wide strike next month,” Mr Bidhuri says.
Mr Bainsla and his supporters stayed away from the mahapanchayat while several BJP leaders joined Mr Bidhuri and assured to fight for the cause of reservation. BJP’s former minister Nathu Singh Gujjar and several BJP leaders were present in the mahapanchayat. The CM Gehlot lashed out at the BJP.
