For those seeking a musical break from their monotonous routines, gear up for the 8th edition of Music in the Hills. A fest without a fixed address, agenda or backdrop, as the organisers put it will see some of the best names from music fraternity jamming up. When asked about the schedule of the fest Rahul Anand of Happily Unmarried, organisers of the fest, candidly answered, “We can only tell you that it will start at 6.30 pm and there’s no time for it to end. Sometimes, it has lasted for almost 12 hours at one go.” The festival this season will feature Soulmate, Mob Marley, Hari & Sukhmani, Bobby Cash, Harpreet and Valentine Shipley.
Here’s a fest where music rules over above else. “The idea of the fest is to help music lovers enjoy good music. This time, we’re looking at jamming sessions which is why we have called artists who we thought could perform with other artists together,” he adds.
Valentine Shipley, who has been a part of the festival from its inception days, tells us how it has grown over the years. “The festival has grown in stature and in terms of bands being showcased. It is becoming an institution of sorts and the content has grown too as India is changing rapidly in terms of quality of music and now we’re exposed to all kinds of cross cultural boundaries. As for my set at the event, I never make a specific set of playlist for any of my concerts. I love to take my audience on a musical escapade,” he tells us.
A first timer at the event, Harpreet is all set to play his originals at the event. “From soulful ones like Maati by Bulleh Shah, to my own songs, I’ll be playing all my favourites at the event,” he says.
The festival is scheduled on April 6, 7 and 8 at the Koti resort, near Shimla.
