It's soft, sweet and right up his street! Akhilesh ‘Tipu’ Yadav, 38, will have his ‘muh meetha’ all the way from Mysore when he becomes India's largest state's youngest chief minister on Thursday. The Mysore clan of Dasharath Rai, Anil Pradhan and others were given a royal welcome when they arrived in Lucknow on Thursday. To their delight they found their high-profile friend had not changed as they reminisced and joked about old times when they were college-mates at Mysore's SJCE and lived among them as just another regular guy.
“We felt like celebrities because of him and got a warm welcome from Samajwadi Party leaders and workers” - and free VVIP passes to attend his swearing-in ceremony - when they went to greet him at his Vikramaditya Marg home in Lucknow on Wednesday evening, with a large pack of his favourite sweet, Mysore Pak. “Akhilesh is raring to go. We are sure he will keep the promises he made to transform UP”, Rai and Pradhan told Deccan Chronicle after their 20-minute meeting with him. He could well return to his alma mater soon, as SJCE principal Dr. B.G. Sangameshwara and vice-principal Syed Shakeeb-Ur-Rahman also visit Lucknow and invite him for a homecoming.
