Delhi is all set to welcome a bevy of authors this spring. Starting tomorrow Penguin Books India along with the India Habitat Centre is hosting the third edition of Spring Fever, which will close on March 25. The main highlight of the festival is going to be the open library and there will be previews of several new titles.
Vikram Seth will open the fest on Friday and Aveek Sen will initiate a conversation with him on his latest offering The Rivered Earth. There will be a dash of Bollywood as well. Saturday will see model-actor Yaana Gupta speaking to Chiki Sarkar on How to Love Your Body and Get the Body You Love. The talk will be followed by a musical performance by Vedas.
Acclaimed actor Anupam Kher and author of the recently released The Best Thing About You Is You will be delving on issues like anger, unhappiness, discontent, jealousy etc when he delivers a talk on life and mastering the art of happiness. The evening will then be taken over by the band Faridkot, who will take the audience on a bumpy ride for they believe “thats how all good things begin”.
Raghav Bahl, Rama Bijapurkar, Devdutt Pattanaik and V. Raghunathan will drive away the Monday blues as they will explore the dilemmas of a new Indian consumer. Celebrating the 100 years of Indian Cinema will be a special movie quiz, with a special round on the superstar Rajinikanth.
Another discussion will have Rahul Bhattacharya, Anjum Hasan and Anjan Sundaram talk about the joys and pains of writing.
A day later popular non-fiction writers, Amit Chaudhuri, Gurcharan Das and Shashi Tharoor will give a sneak peek of their non-fiction books, Calcutta, India Grows at Night and Pax Hindica.
Madhuri Banerjee, Nistula Hebbar, Chanchaldeep Sandhu and Ravinder Singh have planned to take romance and sex out of the bedroom for a session titled Kiss and Tell.
The festival will close on March 25 with readings by Gulzar and a scintillating qawwali performance by Mohammed Ahmed Khan Warsi of Rampur.
