he Kerala High Court on Thursday declined to issue an order directing the authorities to consider the applications of Yashoram Infra Developers Private Limited for the proposed Skycity project.
A division bench comprising the Acting Chief Justice, Manjula Chellur, and Justice V. Chitambaresh, declined the plea by the company’s counsel for a clarification order.
The plea was filed while a petition challenging the State government's order approving the proposed Sky City project came up for hearing.
Sivan Madathil, appearing for the Indian Institute of Architects, argued that the Chilavannor Backwaters are part of the Vembanad Lake, a Ramsar Site, is a part of an international obligation. The proposed project is within the CRZ - I, where construction is prohibited. No construction activities can be permitted at the site.
The proposed construction would also create an adverse impact on the ecology and eco system. Nor is the project viable and is only misleading the people under the guise of creating any impression that this proposed project is a SKY CITY.
