Sivaprasad S., a plus one student of Bhavana’s Varuna Vidyalaya, Thrikkakara, and Gautham Krishnan, a resident of Edapally and plus one student of MIRS, Chennai, have won the prestigious scholarship ‘Kishore Vaigyanik Pratsahan Yojana’ (KVPY) funded by the central government to encourage students do research studies in science.
The scholarships range from Rs 4000 to Rs 7000 per month right up to doctorate level. The aim of the program administered by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc, Bangalore) is to identify and encourage talented students with aptitude for research.
“This spectacular achievement comes close on the heels of nine Std. VIII students qualifying for the second round of National Talent Search Examination (NTSE). We are very happy to earn the double distinction,” said Sunitha S., Principal, Bhavan’s Varuna Vidhyalaya, Thrikkakara.
“He had a special liking to science since childhood and this will be a big boost for him,” said Gautham’s father Dr Venugopal B.
