[1]A weekend getaway for many in the city, the Prakruthi Gramam at Ezhattumugham has little to offer but a restaurant.
Soon, however, it could be transformed with cottages and bamboo huts on the banks of the River Chalakkudy, providing the perfect setting for rest and recuperation away from the noise and humdrum of city life, some 40 kms away.
Established in 2006, Prakruthi Gramam receives hordes of visitors, who often complain it has little to make their stay comfortable.
But their discontent could soon be a thing of the past as there is more to look forward to at the resort located on the way to the famous Athirapally waterfalls.
Staying at the cottages and huts promises to be a treat as they will be ensconced in a green landscape boasting of organic vegetable and fruit gardens, and poultry, goat and cow farms, a children’s park and cafeteria .
All this will be made possible by the District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC) which has decided to carry out the renovation under a public-private partnership (PPP) model at a cost of Rs 33 lakh.
“The project will be implemented by the private party under the supervision of the district Nirmithikendra and District Tourism Promo-tion Council,” reveals council secretary, T.N. Jayashankar.
