US will have to default and rely on India and Northern Distribution network if Pakistan does not open up its crucial Afghan supply route, a top Pentagon official told legislator said on Friday.
However, the Pentagon official testifying before a Congressional subcommittee did not give details of the Indian network, on which it can depend for its crucial supplies to Afghanistan.
“If we can’t negotiate or successfully negotiate the reopening of the PAK GLOC (Ground Lines of Communication) we have to default and rely on India and the Northern Distribution Network, our increased strat airlift,” Marine Corps Lieutenant General Frank Panter, the deputy commandant for installations and logistics, told legislators.

US court sentences Fai to 2 years in jail
Washington, March 30: Kashmiri separatist Ghulam Nabi Fai was on Friday sentenced to two years in jail by a US court on charges of illegally working for Pakistani spy agency ISI to influence American policy on Kashmir.
Fai, 62, was sentenced to 24 months of imprisonment followed by three years of supervised release by a court in Alexandria, Virginia, a suburb of Washington D.C.
Judge Liam O’Grady also asked Fai not to maintain any contact with the officials and agents of the government of Pakistan and the ISI.
Fai was arrested by the FBI on July 19, 2011 and had subsequently pleaded guilty. — PTI

Morani allowed to attend ipl meeting

Bollywood filmmaker Karim Morani, facing trial in the 2G spectrum allocation scam case, was on Friday exempted by a special court here from personal appearance before it for three days so that he can manage events of the upcoming the Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket matches for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) team.
The court allowed the plea of Mr Morani, director of Cineyug Films Pvt Ltd, seeking exemption from personal appearance for himself on the ground that his firm has been managing KKR’s IPL events for the last many years and this year too it would manage the “big event” scheduled to commence from April 4, for which a meeting has been convened on April 2.

Behura to face JPC on April 11 AND 18

Former telecom secretary Siddharth Behura, in judicial custody for his alleged involvement in the 2G spectrum allocation case, was on Friday allowed by a special court here to appear before the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) on April 11 and 18 for recording of his oral evidence.
Special CBI judge O.P. Saini, who is hearing the case on a day-to-day basis, exempted Mr Behura from personal appearance before the court on April 11 and 18 to facilitate his appearance before the JPC.
The order came on a letter from the Tihar Jail, apprising the court that Mr Behura, who is lodged in the jail since his arrest on February 2, 2011, is required to appear before the Joint Parliamentary Committee.
