Youngsters enjoy pranks on April Fools’ Day

Laughter is said to be the best medicine, and today is the official designated day to celebrate humour in all its prankish forms. Thanks to all the silly pranks that we play and fall for, one experiences the lighter side of life. On April Fools’ Day we find out how youngsters wait for this occasion all through the year to tickle some funny bone.
Many students make the most of the day by playing pranks on their friends. Akshey Kapoor, an MBA student, says, “Last year in the college hostel, we were playing dumb charades on April Fools’ Day and it was hilarious. We played a prank on a friend who always tried to act cool in college. Every time he would come to play, we deliberately didn’t give the right answer. He got really annoyed and finally gave up.”
An old trick in the book is to make fake calls and some students pull it off very well. Vimla Chandra, an IT professional, says, “In the last year of my college I called up my classmates and spoke to them in a changed voice, saying they had got a job offer. I conducted a fake interview and asked all silly questions.”
Ayushi Verma, a boutique owner, says, “In my college days I was a big prankster. Once I called all my college friends and told them that I am engaged, and my parents won’t let me study anymore. All my friends went hysterical and the news spread like wildfire. My mom got so many calls that day and she couldn’t understand what was wrong till I told her it was just a prank.”
Practical jokes are good and as long as they don’t hurt anyone, it’s good fun to be a part of it, feels Supriya Roy, a PR professional. She says, “When my mother used to cook something special, she used to share it with our aunt. Once I filled the bowl with stones and sand and told her to hurry up and open the door as mom had sent some hot curry. When she checked the bowl she saw grains, and then we told her it was an April Fools’ Day joke.”
