Bajaj bike sales up 10 per cent in March

The country's second largest two-wheeler maker Bajaj Auto on Tuesday reported 10 per cent increase in motorcycle sales in March at 3,00,848 units, the highest ever for the month.

The company had sold 2,74,392 units in the corresponding month last year.

Bajaj Auto Ltd (BAL) said in a statement that exports grew 54 per cent in March at 1,07,691 units compared to 69,884 units in the same month in 2011.

In the three-wheeler category, company said its sales stood at 34,667 units, as against 33,349 units, registering a jump of 4 per cent.

Total vehicle sales of BAL last month stood at 3,35,515 units compared to 3,07,741 units in the same period a year ago, a growth of 9 per cent, the statement said.

For the year ended March 31, 2012, the company sold 38,34,405 motorcycles, up 13 per cent from 2010-11.

Three-wheeler sales jumped 18 per cent during 2011-12 to 5,15,155 units, as against 4,36,884 in the prior year.

The company's exports grew 31 per cent to 15,79,824 units last fiscal, as against 12,03,718 units in the year ended March 2011.

Bajaj Auto's total vehicle sale rose 14 per cent for the year ended March 31, 2012 at 43,49,560 units.
