In view of the state government's failure to to file affidavits giving details regarding the incident in 2010, the SC said, “By not filing affidavits, are you supporting the vandalism in the High Court?” “This is sheer goondaism in the court rooms, throwing chairs, breaking glass and switching off lights. It could have harmed the judges. They even could have killed the judge and the state was watching,” the Bench said.
The top court even doubted whether the persons who had indulged in violence were advocates at all and wondered whether some “goonda elements” had mingled with the lawyers by simply wearing black coats.
The apex court pointed out to the AP government’s counsel that while the HC had given its report on January 17, the state had not even been able to formulate its response after more than three months. While asking the counsel about the situation in Hyderabad, especially around the HC, the Bench asked the state's police chief and Home secretary to file affidavits detailing the preventive measures and subsequent actions taken to curb violence in the HC premises and what actually happened in Court No 6 and 32.
The Railways was also asked about the losses calculated by it due to non-running of trains during the Telangana agitation. The order came on the petition of advocate P.V. Krishnaiah who had sought a probe into the vandalism. To a specific query about the situation prevailing in the state capital Mr Krishnaiah, without naming anyone said, “Only two persons are taking the state to ransom.”
