[1]Former chief minister B.S. Yeddyurappa said on Saturday that he would leave it to the almighty and senior central leaders of BJP to reinstate him or appoint him to a suitable position in the party.
Speaking to media persons here, he confirmed that he would cut short his tour of drought-hit areas to return to Bengaluru for a meeting with an emissary of the central unit of BJP. He, however, welcomed the directive of Congress president Sonia Gandhi to state unit leaders to visit scarcity-affected areas.
Expressing his displeasure against Union labour minister Mallikarjun Kharge for not assuring financial assistance to provide succor in drought affected areas, the former chief minister praised Chief Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda for taking special interest to provide relief in affected areas.
Mr Yeddyurappa urged the Union government to release Rs 2,600 crore to the state for relief works in drought-hit areas. The state government should chalk out schemes for 175 taluks identified as most backward taluks by late Dr D.M. Nanjundappa Committee for redressal of regional imbalances, for the next five years, he added.
The leader expressed disappointment over functioning of district in-charge minister Balachandra Jarakiholi and the district in-charge secretary in taking steps to ease drought in the district. The district in-charge minister and secretary should stay put to oversee drought relief works. This matter would be brought to the notice of the Chief Minister and state BJP president, he added.
