After evicting Ulfa leaders, the authorities in Bangladesh are said to have been planning to drive out Kamtapur Liberation Organisation chief Tamir Das alias Jibon Singha from their territory.
Disclosing that Dhaka was keeping a close watch over the movement of Singha hiding somewhere in Bangladesh, security sources indicated that he may be evicted by authorities in Dhaka very soon. Singha is also a suspect in Rabindranath Tagore’s Nobel Prize medal theft case.
Refusing to divulge more details on his eviction, security sources said that Singha would not be able to escape from his hideout as security agencies of Bangladesh is said to have been keeping a close watch on his movement.
Though, it was not clear when he will be driven out or handed over to the security agencies in India, it is believed that next is the turn of Singha only. The security sources said that authorities in New Delhi are in touch with its counterpart in Dhaka to secure the eviction of notorious Indian rebel leaders using Bangladesh as safe sanctuary. The outfit that came into existence in 1995 is fighting for a separate Kamtapur state comprising six districts –– Cooch Behar, Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, North and South Dinajpur and Malda — of West Bengal and four — Kokrajhar, Bongaigaon, Dhubri and Goalpara — of Assam.
