The attacks and counter-attacks between former chief minister B.S. Yeddyurappa and his successor D.V. Sadananda Gowda are coming thick and fast, and not so subtle any more. In yet another barb, Mr Yeddyurappa questioned the advisability of Mr Gowda’s plans for a trip abroad during the month-end to attract businessmen for the Global Investors’ Meet, when the state is reeling under a severe drought.
He warned that unless the state government tackled the drought effectively, the people would come out on the streets.
Visiting drought-affected villages of Bidar and Gulbarga, he blamed the district administrations for not rising to the challenge. “The drought situation is very grim. But the district administrations are sitting idle. In none of the places that I visited did I see relief measures being undertaken satisfactorily. Although there is no shortage of funds, the relief measures are inadequate,” he said.
