Investigations into the murder of stockbroker Ramesh Dedhia (30), who was found bludgeoned to death at the Manori Beach on Sunday, have uncovered a grim tale of sexual abuse and violent revenge. The crime branch arrested Dedhia’s niece, who has claimed that Dedhia was exploiting her for the last year and a half before her tolerance cracked. Two of her accomplices have also been arrested.
According to crime branch sources, the 20-year-old girl, whose name has been withheld, is the niece of Dedhia’s wife. She started living with the Dedhias after her mother remarried, and he forced himself on her shortly thereafter. Since then, Dedhia repeatedly raped her for the last year and a half.
“On Saturday night, Dedhia was out playing cards with some friends,after which he called up the girl, asking her where she was. She told him that she was at the Manori Beach, and he told her to stay there.
In the meantime, she called her friends Mohsin Sheikh and Deepak
Bhosale to the beach as well,” said an officer with the crime branch’s unit 11.
When Dedhia reached the spot, he was furious on seeing Sheikh and Bhosale. The trio then attacked Dedhia, and bashed his head in with some stones on the beach. They then dismantled his cellphone, threw the pieces near the body and fled the scene.
“Through Dedhia’s call records, we got to the girl and questioned her, after which she broke down and confessed. We received a tip-off about Sheikh and Bhosale’s whereabouts, and picked them up from Malwani,”the office added.
