The state government has regularised large housing sites in the prime Raidurg area to different individuals including Mr B. Rama Raju, son of Mr B. Ramalinga Raju.
Mr Rama Raju had encroached upon 1,166 sq. yards of government land in Plot No. 19 in Survey No. 5/3 at Raidurg Panmaktha in Serilingampally mandal. The government has regularised the encroachment on payment of Rs 19.89 lakh and directed the Ranga Reddy collector to ascertain whether the applicant for regularisation was in possession of the land since 2003.
In another case, the government regularised Plot No. 131 of 1,083 sq. yards in the same Survey No. in favour of one Ms G. Suneetha Reddy. The applicant has been asked to pay Rs 14.02 lakh towards regularisation fee.
“Though the government initially started the regularisation scheme for poor people for an area of 80 sq. yards, it gradually extended to housing sites up to 2,000 sq. yards. Thanks to this largesse, the government land covering hundreds of acres became private properties in the city and on the outskirts,” pointed out a senior revenue official.
Sources said that in Raidurg alone, 200 acres of government land has being regularised under the GO Ms No. 166 in the past few years. The government regularised 720 sq. yards on payment of Rs 8.71 lakh to one Ms G. Snitha, 1,083 sq. yards to Ms G. Suneetha Reddy on payment of Rs 14.02 lakh, 1,166 sq. yards in favour of Mr B. Ramachandra Reddy on payment of Rs 12.5 lakh and 600 sq. yards to Ms K. Preethi Reddy on payment of Rs 6.01 lakh.
The government has also issued orders regularising 1,166 sq. yards to Ms K. Sunanda Devi, 833 sq. yards each to Dr V. Bhagvan Reddy and Mr D. Vikram Reddy besides 866 sq. yards to Ms K. Uma Lakshmi on payment of Rs 8.06 lakh.
