Pak opposition leader terms budget session fisticuffs brawl as 'people's voice'

Pakistan Opposition Leader in the National Assembly, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has termed his party's protest, during the budget speech by Finance Minister Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, as the 'people's voice'.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz ( PML-N) members hijacked the government's unveiling of the new budget, trading punches during angry scuffles in parliament against power cuts and corruption, reports The Dawn.

Nisar said, "Whatever happened in there wasn't good". However, he said it was bound to happen at some stage as the current government has been acting 'blind and deaf', which could not hear public outcry.

He asserted that it was the government's attitude that triggered the opposition to protest in such a manner.

"National Assembly will not be run in a democratic way anymore for the government, as it has been for the last four years. We will not only protest in the house, but on roads as well," said Nisar, threatening the government.

He added that poor masses of the country do not expect anything good from the budget as they are deprived of basic necessities of life.

"Rulers have destroyed the country completely during their tenure in last four years," he further added.
