Lifting a ban on transfers in the state has stirred a hornet’s nest while disgruntled MLAs of the ruling Congress party lashed out at the ministers for not helping them out in the desired transfers of the employees and officers. Rural development minister Mahendrajeet Malviya earned the wrath of the party MLAs. Chief minister Ashok Gehlot had recently lifted the ban on the transfers in last three-and-a- half years.
The ministers had a tough time while MLAs made a beeline with a long list of names of state employees and officers to be posted in accordance with party legislators desire. A group of ruling party’s legislators stormed at Mr Malviya’s residence on Saturday and insisted to meet the minister but his staff pleaded that he was not at the residence. According to eye witnesses, an annoyed ruling party MLA Rupa Ram Dudi allegedly manhandled with the minister’s staff and levelled charges of corruption in the transfers. “We have been trying to contact the minister for last two days. But he is not available and we heard that his staff was minting money in the transfers, we will speak to the CM,” said a Congress MLA.

Don’t be misled, Mahasweta told
Thiruvananthapuram, June 3: CPI(M) politburo member and Kerala state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan on Sunday requested Jnanpith award-winning Bengali writer Mahasweta Devi not to be misled by the “false propaganda” against Communists in the state.
In a reply to the open letter sent by Mahasweta Devi to him on Friday, Mr Vijayan said many of the opinions raised in the letter were not based on facts, including the comment that he was living in a mansion inaccessible to party workers.
“My house is not a mansion nor are its doors closed to anyone. I have renovated the house with the party’s permission. It is in my native village and not in an island off the sea. I invite you to the house so that you can see for yourself,” he said in the reply.
On CPI(M) Idukki district secretary M.M. Mani’s recent speech in which he used obscene words to criticise the writer for visiting slain RMP leader T.P. Chandrasekharan’s house, Mr Pinarayi Vijayan said the party had already made it clear that it could not endorse Mani’s views. In her letter, Ms Mahasweta Devi had asked Mr Vijayan on Mr Mani’s utterances as to what crime she did to hear such comments.
