This year, online admissions to post-SSC diploma courses will begin three days before the online admissions for first year junior college. While FYJC admissions will begin on June 21, admissions for post-SSC diploma courses will begin on June 18.
Officials of the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) said that as admissions to diploma courses are also going to be online, an earlier start would help avoid any confusion with the FYJC admission.
“In the past, there have been instances of students getting confused about the admission to diploma courses and FYJC online admissions. Hence, to ensure that there are no goof-ups and to avoid causing any stress to the students, the DTE will start diploma admissions three days earlier,” said the source.
An official from the Maharashtra Knowledge Commission Limited (MKCL), which will be handling the online admission process for the FYJC as well as the DTE, confirmed the move. He said, “A separate website has been launched for the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary (MSBSHSE) results. This website will also be the focal point for online admissions to FYJC,” said the MKCL official.
He added that the new initiatives taken by the MKCL aim at ensuring that the various online and centralised admission processes are properly streamlined so that there is no confusion among the students. “The new websites are capable of processing high traffic and take huge loads without crashing. Proof of this is the fact that on the day of the SSC results, there were 500 hits per second and yet there were no complaints from any quarters,” said the official.
