[1]Opposition leader in the Assembly Siddaramaiah has said that cross-voting during the election to the Legislative Council from the Assembly constituency, has nothing to do with the denial of a Congress ticket to his close associate and former Union minister C.M. Ibrahim.
Addressing reporters here on Sunday, Mr Siddaramaiah said it was not appropriate to link the denial of ticket and cross-voting which, according to him, happened due to the ‘greed’ of several legislators for money. “It is clear that cross-voting by some Congress MLAs resulted in party candidate Iqbal Ahmed Saradagi’s defeat in the elections. The party has begun investigation the cross-voting, we will get some clues after obtaining the report of the probe panel. The panel will submit its report in the next fifteen days after which the high command will initiate action against legislators involved,” Siddaramaiah said.
Lambasting the government over drought relief measures, he said it had failed to utilise the funds earmarked for the Agriculture Budget. He demanded that the government should make all preparations to face a drought situation with the monsoon appearing to be weak. He also said that Assembly elections in the State are round the corner, adding that the Congress is prepared to face any challenge.
