[1]Identical twins Mr Ram and Mr Lakshman (38) are used to passers-by staring at them and random people coming up and talking to them. They always dress exactly alike and take great pride in their bond.
“We have been together since childhood and will continue to remain so till our last breath,” said Mr Ram adding that they would never get married as it might lead to their separation. Their eyes look watery and when asked about it Mr Lakshman said, “Due to a defect in vision we have been wearing spectacles.
Since his glasses broke, I stopped wearing mine as it would make us look different.” He even took care to correct his brother’s ruffled hair when this correspondent was about to click a picture.
The twins take utmost care even while choosing accessories like belts, caps and chappals. This was evident as Ram was wearing footwear similar to his sibling, though it was torn. They don’t step out if they are not dressed exactly alike.
On Friday they were returning all the way from Padi by foot to their small rental room in Perambur as they didn’t have money to buy bus tickets.
Life has become tough for these two ardent Congress workers and followers of Congress leaders Mr G.K. Vasan and Mr Haroon, as they were laid off by their employer, Brakes India, last year.
“We are running from pillar to post to get back to work,” they said dejectedly adding that they have been managing their daily expenses with the help of a few philanthropists in the neighbourhood.
