Dust laden winds from Rajasthan pulled a thick layer of dust haze over the city and the National Capital Region even as the temperature dipped on Saturday. However, with the humidity levels rising and dust blowing through the day, the residents felt uncomfortable for the better part of the day. The weather may not change much on Sunday.
According to the weatherman, the maximum temperature recorded on Saturday was 36.6 degrees Celsius, four degrees below normal, while the minimum temperature was 26.6 degrees (one degree below normal). The city also experienced traceable amount of rain in the last 24 hours. On Friday, the maximum and minimum temperatures were at 39 degrees and 29.8 degrees respectively.
The humidity levels on Saturday were recorded at 52 per cent and 35 per cent, making the day uncomfortable.
A weather department official said that the dust laden winds are coming from Rajasthan due to the changed wind patterns following intense heat wave. The current weather trend in the city is also in line with that of the entire northern region, which is experiencing increased incidents of dust and thunderstorms, followed with rain or squall in isolated areas. The entire northern region had been under the spell of serious heat wave conditions in the past couple of months.
