Commissioner of Entrance Examinations (CEE) B.S. Mavoji on Tuesday removed three self-financing medical colleges from his merit quota allotment process. The colleges are Kannur medical college, Karuna medical college and MES medical college.
These colleges had refused to sign an agreement with the government for government quota allotment, even as seven other colleges under the Kerala private medical college management association signed it.
Despite their refusal, the CEE had included the three colleges in the allotment process, triggering confusion in the minds of parents and students.
Karuna and Kannur medical colleges on Monday secured a stay from the Kerala high court against the CEE making allotment to 50 percent of their seats.
Mavoji told Deccan Chronicle on Tuesday evening that he would remove the colleges from the allotment process following the court stay.
He said this wouldn’t cause any problem to the students as they could continue exercising their option in the ongoing option registration process. The real picture would emerge in the coming days.
“As and when these colleges sign the agreement, they will be included in the allotment,” he said.
Sources in the KPMCMA said MES medical college will sign the agreement soon.
