It is surely a fun time for college aspirants, who have got a feel of freedom in the campus. Right out of school, it also a time to explore fashion trends and flaunt funky accessories.
While shopkeepers in the markets nearby North Campus agree that they see an increase in their sales, aspirants visiting the campus are also keen to buy fashion magazines to improve their style quotient.
The sale of fashion magazines has gone up by 20 per cent at the Media Mart, a bookstore at Vishwavidyalaya Metro station. Ankit Bhatt, the store manager, says that youngsters seem interested in new trends in dresses and accessories.
“Many, with limited pocket money who can’t afford to buy magazines, stand here for a while and scout for new trends. They later discuss with friends where to go and shop for what they see in these magazines,” says Ankit.
Swati Sinha, an aspirant, says that magazines give a better idea of trendy dresses. “Till a few months back when we were still in school, the final decision about buying anything came from my parents. This is the first time I have the liberty of buying things and I’m referring to these magazines so that I don’t go wrong,” she says.
Youngsters terms this period of their life as most “amazing”.
“Till now, we were always under the strict routine of school. There was no time to have fun alongside school and tuitions. This is like a dream come true,” says Aashika Jain, an aspirant, who wrapped up her college work quickly to go shopping with friends.
