The African who got injured in a road accident two months back when which two iron rods pierced his body, was discharged from AIIMS on Monday. Adoma, 22, a student of information technology (IT) and a national of Ivory Coast, had met with an accident when two iron rods jutting out of a truck pierced through him.
Talking to reporters at a press conference, assistant professor, department of surgery, AIIMS Trauma Centre, Dr Amit Gupta said, “He is fine and fit to be discharged. He will have to come for his routine physiotherapy. All the other injuries have been taken care of.”
Adoma said, “I cannot recollect much about the incident. One thing is for sure that this is my second birth. I hope there is something worthy in store for me in life that I am walking out of this hospital fit and fine.”
“I am indebted to all the doctors, the fire brigade men and the police officials who brought me here and treated me, because of whom I am alive today. I have decided to complete my studies and not leaving this city,” he said.
The accident occurred near Savitri cinema in south Delhi on April 19 after the car in which he was travelling rammed into a truck-laden with iron rods.
Doctors had to remove a portion of his lung to successfully complete a four-hour surgery.
