If you are one of those tech-savvy, newage women hooked on to your cellphone, it’s time to draw more fun out of the humble gadget. India’s first women’s exclusive mobile portal, Mira, was recently launched in the capital by Vuclip, the world’s largest independent mobile video destination portal.
Mira draws content from around 30 content providers in India and abroad and offers free access to videos that cater to a woman’s needs. The video features content relating to health, beauty, fashion and style tips, parenting and much more. “This women’s mobile video channel can be accessed from any Internet-enabled mobile phone from a range of over 5,500 independent handsets, including the most basic feature phones,” said Meera Chopra of Vuclip.
“Mobile phones are emerging as an economical tool for accelerating mass-scale development of women. These days, mobiles offer a very affordable and easy to use means to even access Internet as compared to the computer and other devices, and can be used by a much larger section of women in society,” said Kiran Walia, Women Development Minister of Delhi during the launch of the portal.
