“I wanted to tell him that I am not his illegitimate child, he is my illegitimate father. It is very clear today,” said Rohit Shekhar after the Delhi high court declared octogenarian Congress leader N.D. Tiwari his biological father, disposing off the paternity suit filed by him five years ago.
“The legal battle is not yet over, in fact it has just begun. This is just the beginning as Mr Tiwari’s legal troubles will only mount now. He will have to give an answer for every trouble that my mother and I have had to face because of him,” a relieved Mr Shekhar told media persons soon after the high court declared the result of the DNA test conducted upon the 86-year-old Congress leader.
Mr Shekhar, however, refused to elaborate on what further legal action he plans to take against his father. “We have not decided that as yet. We will have to sit and think it over,” he said. On whether he would suffix ‘Tiwari’ to his name, he said, “I am legally entitled to add Tiwari to my name now, so maybe I would. But I have not taken a decision right now”.
Ujjwala Sharma, the mother of 32-year-old Mr Shekhar, said she had always known that the verdict would be in their favour. “I always knew that the truth would prevail,” she said. Ms Sharma said it was upon her son to decide what further action he wants to take against his father.
