Ramona’s back in the spotlight

She was popular as VJ Ramona and later, as Sonia in Karan Johar’s Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, but for nearly five years, Ramona Arena (formerly Sunavala) stayed away from the spotlight.

But she’s back! After releasing an EDM number, Wanna Be Your Only Love with Anish Sood, Ramona will be seen dancing on stage when she appears in Raell Padamsee’s production Broadway and Beyond.
“I’ve grown up watching musicals and to be in one has always been a childhood fantasy. In B&B I get to sing all my favourite numbers from all the various musicals I watched endlessly,” says Ramona about her upcoming performance.
A return to the big screen isn’t imminent, Ramona says, as she has her hands full with B&B and a cricket show on TV. “It’s easy to live in your little bubble once you’re settled in a city. My hiatus — during which I lived in the West — taught me a lot. It showed me that no matter where you go and how green the grass is, it’ll only be a green patch that you were looking at…there are a lot of shrubs and weeds around it that you didn’t take into account,” says Ramona.
Post-hiatus, Ramona seems to have resolved the question of whether it is India or Switzerland (her other home) she wants to be in, something she’s previously been unable to work out. “In a way I have resolved it, thanks to my work here and the love showered on me by my friends,” she says.
“But I miss Switzerland — especially when it comes to my friends!”
