[1]The Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority on Tuesday started demolishing a multistoreyed building in Thousand Lights area, after a show cause notice was issued by the CMDA stating that the building has been constructed in violation of existing rules.
The notice said that the building would be demolished in line with a recent high court order and urged the owners to vacate the building.
The CMDA and city corporation are taking action only against buildings constructed after August 2007, as there is a case pending in the high court on buildings with violations constructed before August 2007.
In the past four months, the corporation has sealed more than 200 buildings, including commercial and residential complexes.
