Top seed Achanta Sharath Kamal entered the second round of the Indian Open ITTF Pro Tour with a comfortable win over Ji Min Han of Korea at the Yamuna Sports Complex here on Friday, reports our correspondent.
Sharath crushed Han 11-9, 11-6, 5-11, 11-8, 11-4 in the test event for the October 3 to 14 Commonwealth Games. He will now face Chih Chi Wu of Chinese Taipei, who beat Abishek Ravichandran 11-3, 8-11, 3-11, 11-6, 11-9 and 11-6.
Meanwhile, Harmeet Desai and Devesh Karia created a major upset with their crushing 11-6, 11-6, 11-3, 11-9 win over the second seeded German pair of Patrick Baum and Dimitrij Ovtcharov in the men’s doubles. In the women’s singles, it was curtains for all five Indian contenders.
