Manoj Bajpai, who won accolades for his role in Prakash Jha’s Rajneeti, is all set to enact the character of Marlon Brando (Don Corleone) in Anurag Kashyap’s adaptation of Francis Ford Coppola’s classic The Godfather. Anurag’s movie will be titled The Gangs of Wasseypur.
Manoj’s character is that of a coal mine owner in Bihar. The accent and dialect Anurag requires for his lead character is something Manoj is thoroughly familiar with. Besides Manoj, Shabana Azmi and Nawazuddin Siddiquie will also be playing important parts in the film. A source says that Nawazuddin is likely to enact the part Al Pacino (Michael Corleone) played in the classic.
Anurag has completed the scriptwriting process. The movie is going on the floors from next month. Manoj and Anurag’s association goes back to the time when Anurag wrote Satya especially keeping Manoj’s role in mind. Differences crept up later and they parted ways. Now Manoj is looking forward to his role in The Gangs of Wasseypur.
