It looks like men alone were not Shahanaz’s victims. Information available on her background indicates that the much-married woman who had lured, married and ditched many men, had also extracted money from female friends, after taking their nude pictures and then threatening to upload them on the Internet, sources here said.
“We were told that she had done it in Thrissur, Kerala, where she spent some days in a friend’s house.
She had used a mobile phone to take pictures of her friend changing her dress and later extracted money and gold ornaments by threatening to upload the pictures on the Internet,” police sources here said.
She showed off her ornaments at every marriage but nobody knew if they were genuine or gold-plated ones. “I never asked her about it. She came with it.
I have a feeling all her ornaments were fake,” one of her mothers-in-law in the city told Deccan Chronicle.
Shahanaz, a sweet talker, did not let her victims get intimate with her. “She never allowed me to cross the limit before marriage.
However, she was not interested in having baby after marriage,” said one of the cheated husbands, who does not want to be named.
She had allegedly collected a few lakhs of rupees from a department store owner who gave her a job in his shop in Veppery in 2006.
“She collected the money from him saying that she was constructing a house but did not return it,” police sources said.
The police said that Shahanaz, 33, the mother of a 10-year-old child living in Kerala, disappeared a couple days ago and has kept her mobile phone switched off.
