The state government on Saturday reconstituted the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam Board with Kanumuri Bapiraju as chairman and 13 other members, including three MLAs. Congress MP Kanumuri Bapiraju has been given second term as chairman for a period of two more years by the government after his one year term ended on Saturday. Mr Bapi Raju got a bonanza of a three-year term as TTD chairman.
The 14-member TTD board comprises Bapiraju (chairman), Nagaram MLA Pamula Rajeshwari Devi, Uppal MLA, Mr Raji Reddy, Mangalagiri MLA K. Kamala, Mr L.R. Shiva Prasad, Mr N. Kanayya, Mr Raghunath Viswanath Rao Deshpande, Mr Ch. Laxman Rao, Mr Repala Srinivas, Mr Chittori Ravindra and Mr G.V. Srinath Reddy.
Mr Bapiraju and Mrs Rajeshwari Devi were the only ones to be retained. “I am indebted to Lord Venkateshwara Swamy, Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Mr Ghulam Nabi Azad, Mr Ahmed Patel, Chief Minister and devotees for getting me a second term. I will serve the Lord and people to the best of my abilities,” Mr Bapi Raju told this newspaper over phone from Madurai in Tamil Nadu.
