GH now a star among public sector hospitals

General Hospital at Erna-kulam is becoming a focal point of attention from the medical fraternity all over the nation.

A host of public sector hospital authorities are evincing a keen interest in visiting the hospital to study how the institute has evolved over the years to reach its present stature as a public hospital of repute.

Recently the hospital bagged the prestigious ‘FICCI Heal-2012’ award, pipping at the post three other hospitals shortlisted for the award for operational excellence in the public sector.

At the conclusion of the concla-ve, the presentation by General Hospital was screened again and much appreciated by the elite audience.

The GH authorities had also been invited to make a presentation at the national seminar on ‘Innovation in Health Services’ held at Bangalore on August 27 and 28.

Former superintendent and the current DMO Dr Junaid Rahman and P. Rajeev MP, who contributed in a big way to raise funds for the MRI scanning centre at the hospital, attended the seminar on behalf of the hospital.

“Many healthcare professionals from different states could not believe a public sector hospital could make such strides and they enquired how it was possible.

They asked whether these improvements could be sustained over a period of time. A few professionals from Haryana, Punjab, Karnataka and Andhra expressed interest in visiting the hospital,” said Dr Junaid Rahman.

The organizers of another national seminar who came to the Bangalore seminar, have now asked General Hospital to make a presentation at the seminar at Hyderabad too.

Topping its list of facilities, the dialysis centre at the GH will start functioning on September 10.
