Delhi created a history of sorts by recording the highest ever power demand at 4,668 MW on Monday. The power demand shot up to the record high amidst intense heat conditions in the capital, with maximum temperature recorded at 44.1 degrees Celsius.
The Palam and Najafgarh areas of the capital recorded maximum temperature at 46.1 degrees Celsius, though the weather department takes the temperature at Safdarjung for Delhi, which stood at 44.1 degree Celsius.
The earlier highest power demand in the capital of 4,581 MW was recorded on May 24 this year.
Meanwhile, the minimum temperature was recorded at 31.1 degrees, two degrees above normal, said the Met department. It has predicted partly cloudy sky for Tuesday, while adding that the conditions are not likely to improve much in the next couple of days and the monsoon was still a good seven-eight days away.
