Southern Railway has rescheduled two Express trains from Chennai Central bound to New Delhi and Jaipur owing to heavy rains and breaches on Vijayawada-Kazipet section’s track.
According to an official release, Grand Trunk Express (train No: 12615) bound to New Delhi from Chennai Central would start at 3 pm on September 5, instead of scheduled 7.15pm on September 4.
Similarly, train No: 12967 (Jaipur Express) has been rescheduled to leave at 3.30pm on Wednesday, against the scheduled 5.30pm on Tuesday.
Chennai-New Delhi Tamil Express (train No: 12621) will also start at 4pm on Wednesday, against scheduled 10 pm on Tuesday.
A special information centre has been set up at Chennai Central to assist passengers, who are also requested to contact phone No: 044-25357398 for clarifications about late running of trains.
Meanwhile, SR has temporarily augmented express trains connecting Chennai to Mangalore and Tiruchy with a second-class chair car coach for a month to clear heavy waiting list.
Train No: 16854 (Tiruchy-Chennai Egmore) would be augmented from September 5 to October 4, while train No: 16853 running in the opposite direction would be augmented form September 8 to October 7.
