A day after a group of Gujjar leaders led by ex-MLA Attar Singh Bhadana formed a new body, a group led by Col. K.S. Bainsla announced an indefinite sit-in at Panchna Dam in Karauli district till their demand to accord quota in government jobs is not met. On the other hand, parliamentary secretary Rajendra Singh Bidhuri has resigned from his post for alleged delay on the government’s part in providing quota in the jobs.
The Gujjars assembled at Panchna on Tuesday and after a day-long discussion, Mr Bainsla announced to turn the gathering into “Maha Padava” till the demands are meet.
“We have decided to send a delegation to Jaipur to call on chief minister Ashok Gehlot or energy minister Jitendra Singh to talks with the government. If the government fails to meet our demands, we will announce next step of agitation,” says a Gujjar leader.
Panchna is considered Col. Bainsla’s strong hold and the administration strengthened the security on highways and railway tracks connecting Mumbai to Delhi. According to sources, 300 policemen has been deployed in the area. A group led by ex-MLA Attar Singh Bhadana given a call to the community members to assemble on Wednesday at Kelai village under Dausa district. Mr Bhadana had already announced his group will lead the agitation on their own for the quota in jobs.
The Gujjar leaders, including Mr Bainsla and Bhadana, engaged in war of words two days ago in Karauli district while they gathered to decide on future course of action. Last time, Mr Bhadana won Assembly election on BJP symbol from Bayan, but during Gujjar agitation, the then ruling BJP sidelined him when he voiced against the then BJP government.
