Two cases were filed against MNS chief Raj Thackeray and his cousin Uddhav Thackeray in Bhagalpur and Muzaffarpur on Wednesday for their hate speech against Bihari migrants.
James Quadrez, a social activist filed a case against the two in the court of Bhagalpur district chief judicial magistrate S.P. Malviya under various provisions of the IPC.
He alleged that “Bihari bashing” by the two Maharashtra leaders in a series of hate speech had hurt the sentiments of the people of the state and posed a threat to the unity and integrity of the country. Sudhir Ojha, an advocate, filed the second case against the Mr Thackeray cousins in the court Muzaffarpur district chief judicial magistrate S.P. Singh.

Shinde dismisses Uddhav remark against biharis

Union home minister Sushilkumar Shinde on Wednesday dismissed Shiv Sena leader Uddhav Thackeray’s comments against Biharis living in Maharashtra, saying every citizen has the right to travel freely across the country.
“It is not in the interest of the nation to violate the provisions of the Constitution,” Mr Shinde said when asked to comment on Mr Thackeray’s remarks. “Every citizen has the right to travel freely across the country. Our Constitution has given equal right to all,” he said.
